You make an excellent point, Stewart... Why not create an Audites page on Facebook? Then everyone can share music, vids, you name it...as Stewart points out, most of us are already over there...Create a page, and lets meet there. segarini --- On Thu, 7/2/09, Stewart Mason wrote: From: Stewart Mason Subject: Re: The problem with this list To: audities@smoe.org Received: Thursday, July 2, 2009, 1:02 PM > I miss the days where Bennett, Borack and Brodeen (the b's of power pop on this list) used to post frequently, but something is keeping them from posting as well. Frankly, I suspect that the main reason they don't post here frequently anymore is that a lot of the Audities old guard tend to spend most of our online social time on Facebook these days.  It's not that we're being cliquish or anything, it's just that that's a more entertaining place to hang because of the multimedia aspects and the opportunity to discuss things other than music.  For instance, David Bash posted something like a couple dozen videos of great obscure Canadian pop bands of the '60s and '70s in honor of Canada Day.  You can't really do that on a mailing list. > For example, I think about bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, the Gaslight Anthem, The Clientele, The Fray, and I could go on for the rest of the day. I know there are people here who like these acts, but they never come up in conversation, I suppose, because they aren't "Audities bands." > > If we're seeing a terminal fade where traditional "power pop" is concerned, then maybe this is a good time to talk about making the list a bigger thing. I know I've said this before many a time, but as far I remember, Audities stopped being strictly a power pop list sometime around 1997. There's no reason why any of those bands (particularly the Clientele, whom I adore) couldn't be discussed on Audities. S
