There's quite a few songs in Stew's cannon that are exceptionally visual in nature -- "Le Artist Cafe", "Rehab", "Watering Hole"...the list goes on and on. Of course, this all culmunated in his Tony Award-winning "Passing Strange"... And, although I really can't stomach Dire Straits, the song "Making Movies" is very visually evocative -- proof of Knopfler's songwriting prowess (however sleep-inducing). And, prog-rockers unite! Hell, prog has always been about the melding of classical structures with pop and rock sensibilities. There are thousands of hours of prog-rock songs with not only blistering musical passages, but extremely palatable melodic vocal sections that would appeal to any hardcore power-pop fan. I guess some people just can't stand the musical widdly-widdly aspect of prog (which is my favorite element; after all I'm a musician, so that level of playing/composing has always been a benchmark of sorts). I've always found that old saying -- "don't bore us, get to the chorus" -- to be somewhat short-changing of songs in general. The chorus will come soon enough, please believe; meanwhile, check out that section in 7/8, the interplay between the guitarist and keyboardist is incredible! LOL. YMMV... kErrY www.myspace.com/kompost NP: NEXT -- "Eureka" (melodic prog rock to the core!)
