I saw them at the Seattle show at the Showbox Theater last week. Indeed, Tilbrook was the talented virtuoso and showman, Difford rather passive...but these are roles I've seen them take in live performance for years so I didn't find that surprising. What I did find pleasantly surprising was the great crowd turnout, the level of audience participation, and authentic camaraderie between band mates (yes, both Tilbrook and Difford as well). They seemed to the adulation. An exuberant show featuring lots of Argybargy and plenty of the hits. --Jayson http://www.myspace.com/vanillacd -----Original Message----- From: audities-owner@smoe.org [mailto:audities-owner@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Rick McCall Sent: Friday, September 26, 2008 12:17 PM To: audities@smoe.org Subject: Squeeze Live Hello All - Just wondering if anyone has had the great privilege of seeing Squeeze on their reunion tour? I was front and center in Austin a couple of weeks ago and I gotta tell ya...Glenn Tilbrook is simply an amazing artist. His guitar skills verge on virtuoso within the confines of a pop song. His voice hasn't lost the slightest bit of quality and, as always, he is very engaging and entertaining. I couldn't believe they played a couple of masterpieces off Argybargy I've never heard them play live before. I Think I'm Go Go and Separate Beds were both just incredibly stellar and all the more enjoyable because they were so unexpected. The one negative, and it wasn't terrible, but noticeable, was Chris Difford's almost total lack of eye contact with Tilbrook, although Glenn tried all concert long to engage him in the fun. Difford showed no signs of fun or joy and rarely even smiled. Don't know if they fought beforehand or if they're just doing the tour for money and never reconciled their differences (Tilbrook did introduce him as "my arch-enemy and my best mate), but it seemed pretty clear that Difford wasn't happy to be there. Tilbrook was, though, and it made up for it. Best, Rick
