What is the "idea" you like about FOW, but not necessarily their music? Yes, they sometimes can be too clever for their own good, but the music is the muisc, if you know what I mean. ----- Original Message ---- From: Dan Franke To: audities@smoe.org Sent: Sunday, June 8, 2008 6:47:36 AM Subject: Re: The New Weezer Album... Since Rick gave us all such an insightful review of the new Weezer album, I thought I'd post the counter-point. I've never really lived Weezer...although I like the idea of Weezer (much the same as Fountains Of Wayne). The only Weezer album I can truly say I like is "Pinkerton" and the only FOW is the 1st. (not to say I don't like songs off of every album). The new Weezer has a much more Pinkerton vibe to it - So, if you liked that one, you might like this one. A warning though: The new Weezer has some really bad lyrics/rhymes. On a more positive note, I saw The Bellfurries tonight and they were excellent. If you like the updated Beatle-esqe pop of someone like The Redwalls, I think you'd enjoy this. I heard the drummer used to play with Big Sandy and there is a hint of the Beatles country in the band, but that may be the power of suggestion (or just the fact that roots & country & pop intersect on so many levels). Check them out on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/bellfuries  Finally, I'm not sure if this was already discussed, but the song in the new Saturn Aura commercial made me do a web search. It's Tim Myers "The Good Life" and you can hear the song on his website: http://www.timmyersmusic.com or on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/timmyersmusic  Dan FrankE ATX
