I feel pretty much the same about > Weezer, except that their albums are a bit more > "growers" and have a longer shelf life - Or in reality > player-life...the shelves are where CD's go to die. Funny, I have the opposite feeling, probably because of FOW's lyrics. Arguably we're not in McMurtry/Wainwright/GrahamParker territory here, but I have a mental vignette for just about any song they've ever recorded. The fact that the songs themselves are predominantly earworms is a bonus. Also probably explains why I am disappointed watching them on stage (i.e. Austin City Limits) where they seem to lack all the fun that their music contains (not to re-launch THAT old thread). Even with occasional clunkers ("92 Subaru", "Planet of Weed") I thought TRAFFIC AND WEATHER was very strong...over time "New Routine" has become my favorite. They're still batting 1.000 for me. Weezer for me is just a total aural thrill - the lyrics never stick - and I prefer the catchiness of Green and Blue more than Pinkerton. Haven't heard Red yet, but heading for some clips as soon as I click "send". One of the few bands who make videos that enhance the music. Like Dan, I probably don't pull these out of the sleeve often enough. b
