Just nabbed this album off one of the Amazon 3rd party sellers. It's a best-of collection, but I think at least some of the tracks have been re-recorded for it. Anyway, it's a winner. The concept is a bunch of 18th century aristocrats playing songs about snobbery and class elitism in a heavy rock vein. The songs are witty enough but the band really rocks. They are to AC/DC what the Rutles were to the Beatles (with the added historical twist). Best tracks are Let Them Eat Rock, Cream Of The Crust , High Falutin' and Little Lord Fauntleroy. I think Audities bods might enjoy this quite a lot. audities-owner@smoe.org wrote: > The Audities Digest: for the discussion of insanely great pop > Volume 5 : Issue 970 : "text" Format > > Messages in this Issue: > Re: old school drummers! Great great melodic stuff in the Enuff Z Nuff / Cheap Trick vain. Their electronic footprint is almost invisible on the net but I was able to locate one of their top tunes ("Antichrist Theme") here: > > http://www.ilike.com/artist/The+Szuters > > > The best band on the plant right now (IMHO) combining HoOKs + melody + RoCK are (surprise) THE WiLDHEARTS. They are about release a Covers CD that really highlights there diversity in tastes that really comes across in their albums. The Track listing is as follows: > > 01 Unsung (Helmet) > 02 The World Comes Tumblin' (The Distillers) > 03 Understanding Jane (The Icicle works) > 04 Waiting Room (Fugazi) > 05 Geez Louise (The Unband) > 06 Ice Hockey Hair (Super Furry Animals) > 07 Rocket 69 (Lee Harvey Oswald band) > 08 Possum Kingdom (Toadies) > 09 Rearrange You (Baby Chaos) > 10 Pep Talk (The Descendents) > 11 Battleship Chains (Georgia Satellites) > 12 Carmelita (Warren Zevon) > > They have been posting a song every week from the CD,this week is "Ice Hockey Hair " & it's fantastic.
