There was a time a lot of bands like this were awfully popular Back in the 70's we moved a lot of this product. Eventually most of these bands ran out of ideas, or worse got too many fancy ideas. I admit to going to see Tony Williams LIfetime, the version with Allan Holdsworth. But, Williams was an amazing drummer. That was a real eye opener. Last year we saw Jack DeJohnette and Bill Fizell here in town. Same thing, amazing drummer. He did some sneaky show off things, like doing a complex roll with one hand. More than a few of the local jazz community got up and left, because he was not playing "classic jazz". Lame... I think you are better off listening to Miles Davis Jack Johnson or something like that. But don't let me stop you from going if you think it's important.
