Well, since the subject came up: Some of you will remember my personal favorite band, the Solipsistics. They put out four albums in quick succession around the turn of the century, and nothing official since then. They're now putting out a 19-track CD called "Selected and Uncollected Recordings," which compiles never-released songs and alternate (sometimes startlingly so) versions of familiar compositions. I have two things to say about that. First, I've volunteered myself to get the band up on all the social-networking sites: there's a more- or-less finished finished page at http://myspace.com/the solipsistics, and they're up at last.fm (many free downloads at both sites); I'm working on iLike as well, but it's not the most streamlined process. Second, if anyone wants a review copy of the new CD, drop an email to solipsistics@fringehead.com. In other news, the second new Hawksley Workman CD of 2008 will be available in Europe and worldwide at hawksleyworkman.com on May 5. Also, and this is stretching the topic a bit, I just discovered I really like the Mountain Goats. Is all their stuff reasonably worth getting?
