If you're looking for beautiful melancholy songs, check out the Trash Can Sinatras.  Their first album Cake and their most recent one Weightlifting are chock full of them.  But two of their best melancholy songs are on I've Seen Everything: 'I'm Immortal' and 'Earlies'. Also check out Gene, particularly their first album, Olympian.. Wild Colonials have some good ones.
