The "Utopia" CD was an underappreciated pop masterpiece. If it has been released by some hot young pop band of the moment, it would have sold millions. ----- Original Message ---- From: Brian Curtis To: audities@smoe.org Sent: Wednesday, January 9, 2008 2:54:01 PM Subject: Re: AOR-a-go-go (Shooting Star) I distinctly remember seeing Shooting Star open for Utopia in August 1982 at Alpine Valley. This was one month prior to the release of Utopia's self-titled album which happens to be (in all things Audities continuity) number 32 in Borack's "Shake Some Action" top 200 power pop albums list. And yeah, Shooting Star is more AOR than pop, but a decent listen. Spys was mentioned earlier - as I recall, their lineup included two former members of Foreigner, so very much an AOR thing there. But catchy tunes as memory serves.
