Based on what I've heard from the new one, his > voice seems pretty close to shot. I admire him for trying things as an artist even after all of these years. In 5 years we've had The Rising (a potent comment on post 9/11 world) with the E Streeters, a dark introspective solo work - Devils and Dust, the joyous Seeger Sessions, and now what i would call his best album since .. since i don't know when.. i would almost say Born In The USA but maybe even The River. Certainly 'Magic' is my album of the year so far. And tours on the back of all of these. I feel like creatively he's having a great time... And i was feeling like his voice was diminishing, and had been since about 92. But i think he sounds FANTASTIC on this new record. Vital, keen, in tune and not at all like the older man he is. It's almost like he picked up again after Born in the USA vocally. And there's lots of great pop songs on this record, for those still paying attention to that sort of thing..
