Todd Rundgren has talked about this over the years. He says his goal was to be the best guitar player he could be, not the number one hotshot in the technique department. He acquired enough technique to express what he needed to in his music, but refused to walk around the house playing guitar all day every day to get his chops up. In fact, he said he never practiced guitar. The music and emotional expression always were foremost. Jim K.
