Hi Auditeers: The Cedar Crest fires of exactly four years ago were a prelude to what is happening now. New fires appear to be starting every four hours or so. After a while, you begin to wonder how many are acts of nature or the disturbing pyro-thrills of some truly sick individuals. My neighborhood (Normal Heights district) is safe--for the time being. My brother's in-laws are staying with my mom. They are from the suburban city of Poway and are uncertain if their home is still standing. There has been a great outpouring of compassion and community from concerned San Diegans and people from other states. We have a great music community who will no doubt be stepping up to the plate in the next weeks and months to produce benefit concerts and CDs. Many of these artists (Bart Mendoza, Dylan Martinez, Mark DeCerbo, Cindy Lee Berryhill) are names from IPO shows and past Audites posts. I will post when I have news to share. Looking forward to hearing/meeting from fellow Auditeers in Southern California in the months to come. Our thoughts also go out to the people suffering in LA. Steve Thorn Contributing Writer SAN DIEGO TROUBADOUR P.S.--Did have a good laugh--at myself--this morning. I thought it read, "Rick NELSON and Alice Cooper....". Well, he is, afterall, Alice Cooper.... and All Soul's Day is around the corner.... Perfectly logical lineup!!
