I met Matt about seven years ago when he opened for Marty Willson-Piper of The Church at Cafe North Star in Philly. Immensely personable guy. Could play the hell out of a 12-string guitar. The songs were really quite good. Oddly, I liked them more when he did them solo than on record. There was more energy and vitality to 'em. The studio versions had kind of drained the life from some of the tunes. We also went to rival New England boarding schools, graduated within a year or two of each other, and had a bunch of people in common. john micek ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitty Foss" To: Sent: Friday, October 12, 2007 2:18 PM Subject: Re: Matt Nathanson on tour > You know, I've seen him live and just sort of thought "John Mayer Lite." > The singer-songwriter thing has never been my cup of tea, though. > His between song banter is funny, I'll give him that, but the songwriting > is > underwhelming. > > On 10/9/07, Hersh Forman wrote: >> >> In the midst of a fall heat wave, Matt Nathanson and band put on a great >> show at the El Mocambo in Toronto. >> >> For those of you in Pittsburgh (tomorrow).
