Pavement. that is it. tried. Bought the CDs >listened, put aside, listened again, eventually sold. > I agree with Bholmes, too much other stuff to explore. Fountains Of Wayne. I've bought every CD hoping there's going to be that lightbulb moment and the only song that's ever moved me was "Red Dragon Tatoo". I can even see the appeal to "Stacey's Mom", but it all sounds so manufactured and contrived to not have any spontaneity. I can predict where the word couplets are going to go, the breaks, and the choruses. All formulaic in a TV commercial kind of way. I went to see them in 1999 at Lee's Palace with Owsley opening on a recommendation from a former audities list member who came to town and bought me a ticket. Came out an Owsley fan and still, to this day, scratching my head over FOW. Oh....and The Wackers. Sorry Bob. The stuff you played me of the band live is, hands down, absolutely brilliant -- I wished I'd seen you guys in the day. But the albums seemed to lack the cohesion that the Family Tree album seemed to have [I was hooked the first few bars you played of that at your house the last time I was over]. Song writing and performances are all there for the Wackers, but the production has always left me cold.
