I came to the Big Star party late & only after a couple of years ago after my buddy had a extra ticket to see Alex Chilton in Cleveland. I always like "September Gurls" but heard a couple of songs off a mixtape a buddy of mine once played for me and I didn't quite get it at the time. After I saw Chilton live, I got it and demanded my friend to let me borrow all his Big Star CD's and Chilton's solo stuff. I find they are not quite as high up as the Raspberries for me. Meaning that in the Raspberries, I like all the stuff by everyone in the band besides Carmen, even the country type stuff or the slow ballads by then other guys. But like with Badfinger, I love all Pete Ham's songs, alot of Tom Evans and don't care to much for Joey Mollands. I still consider Badfinger one of my favorite bands as well as Big Star, thought I don't love everything  they do like with the Raspberries. I still dig most all of it. Got to meet Chilton that night, his reputation as a hardass wasn't on
 that night. He was very cool and seemed pleased when me and my friend told him he sounded great.He asked me if I was a musician and I said yeah and he said cool. I also just read the Big Star book and it's a good read. I didn't know their story at all.
