I checked out your link and didn't seem that interested until I read further and saw that the main character helps Brian Wilson finish "Smile".That kind of blew my mind.I am a huge Beach Boys fan,and used to fantasize doing just that.I think I was so bummed about the apparent destruction of the actual tapes that I wished someone could have been there to save that project. There is an amazing book on music ,"Outlaw Blues" ,by Paul Williams, who was the editor of Crawdaddy,a fantastic magazine that worshiped pop like no other. The outstanding piece in the book was a beautiful and sad saga of "Smile".I was so affected by this piece ,and so sure I would never really hear "Smile". I may have to check out this book.Unfortunately,I have about 5 books before a new one is possible[damn internet!] Gene >From: "Steve Turnidge" >Reply-To: audities@smoe.org >To: , >Subject: Re: The Beach Men >Date: Sun, 29 Apr 2007 12:39:43 -0800 > >Hi All, > >My time of reckoning regarding The Beach Boys came from the great "sci-fi" >music based novel "Glimpses" by Lewis Shiner.
