I've got all those albums and I like them well enough. It's just that today I listen to his records for the voice; I'd have to back to his late 80s records to find something that consistently grabbed my head, heart and soul. And when I talk about ECs diversity, I'm talking stylistic breadth. Van pretty much covered the folk, blues, jazz, soul and country that have been the bedrock of his career in his first three records. :-) Michael vg wrote: --- Steve Alter wrote: > (If we were talking longevity and quality of voice, you'd > have to put Van Morrison on the list, but I think > he stopped making really meaningful music before the millenium.) Not sure why people feel this way, I have loved his recent albums. What's Wrong with this picture, Down the Road, Pay the Devil. All solid albums. No it isn't Veedon Fleece or TB Sheets, but then neither is "When I was Cruel" "My Aim is True". If Elvis gets props for diversity, Van deserves them as well. michael ____________________________________________________________________________________ It's here! Your new message!
