I was affiliated a few years back with the Orchard, and they were terrible. 
I had to sue them twice in small claims court to get my money. (Actually, 
each time I filed suit they then paid me before the case came up. Lucky I 
lived in New York or I would have had no remedy at all.) My bad experience 
was shared by just about everyone who was associated with them; many artists 
posted their negative experiences on a discussion group I was on called 
MusicThoughts.

Anyway, they claim to have reorganized, reformed, whatever, so maybe they've 
improved.
