Sounds similar to my wife's tastes.  I have given my wife the following, 
which she has really liked:

Beth Orton, Kristen Hall, Kasey Chambers, The Kennedys, and Nanci Griffith. 
In addition, she, on her own, has "discovered" Marah and Paul Kelly and dug 
them too.
