1. The Hold Steady/Boys & Girls In America - I listened to this disc more than any other this year. A huge leap from Separation Sunday. 2. Butch Walker & The LGOT - Fun and inspired glam rock from a great lyricist and an amazing performer. 3. My Chemical Romance/The Black Parade - The best 70's concept record since, well, the 70's. 4. The Strokes/First Impressions of Earth - This disc is filled with great songs and performances. Nick Valensi and Albert Hammod Jr. make a play for guitar-god status on this one. 5. Gnarls Barkley/St. Elsewhere - Danger Mouse's talents seem limitless. This disc hits on rock, old-school soul, hip-hop, pop, and on and on. 6. Damone/Out Here All Night - Crunchy pop-metal from Boston. Like it's 1989 all over again. 7. Jon Auer/Songs From The Year Of Our Demise - My favorite post-Posies release. 9. Neko Case/Fox Confessor Brings The Flood - No other singer like her in the genre. Fantastic vocalist and she can bring the tunes, too. 9. The Format/Dog Problems - Great power-pop record and a nice F-U to Atlantic for dropping them. 10. Sloan/Never Hear the End of It - The full songs contained within are among the best Sloan has ever recorded. 11. Orson/Bright Idea 12. Roger Joseph Manning Jr./Land Of Pure Imagination 13. Damien Rice/9 14. Cheap Trick/Rockford 15. Roots/Game Theory 16. Yeah Yeah Yeahs/Show Your Bones 17. Red Hot Chili Peppers/Stadium Arcadium 18. Flaming Lips/At War With The Mystics 19. Wolfmother/Wolfmother 20. Rhett Miller/The Believer Best of the rest (in alphabetical order): Arctic Monkeys/Whatever You Say I Am... Beck/The Information Bob Dylan/Modern Times The Feeling/Twelve Stops & Home Lupe Fiasco/Food & Liquor Harem Scarem/Human Nature J.
