Near-lurker Bryzo Hughes just hipped me to new UK chanteuse Candie 
Payne, and I see great things ahead.  She's from Liverpool, 
tangentially connected to that whole Wirral scene (one brother in the 
Zutons, the other in the Stands) but primarily interested in 
singlehandedly starting the Great John Barry Revival of 2007: the 
songs here on her Myspace page have that great dramatic mid-'60s 
orchestration, especially "In the Morning," but with a modern sheen: 
think of a less torpid version of Portishead, or GOOD HUMOR era Saint 
Etienne.  Debut single out late next month, album to follow, four 
excellent songs here:
