Robert, I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of
congratulations to you and your wife on the new
arrival.  And I also wanted to share my fond memories
of the two L.A. IPOs I attended.  Is the Orchid Suites
still there?  Strangely, I ended up having the same
room both years, a second floor corner room with a
nice balcony overlooking the pool.  Great, relaxing
weeks of waking up and strolling down Hollywood Blvd.
to the Snow White diner for a late breakfast, floating
around in the pool reading Fitzgerald (year one) and a
Gloria Swanson bio (year two - so weird I remember
this so clearly!) in the afternoon, then joining up
with the record shoppers for late afternoon
explorations, followed by fun dinners, cool shows, and
still more late-night music conversations.  Such a
great chance to get to meet other people from this
list -- people I'd never have gotten to know in the
pre-internet days.  It's pretty amazing, really.

Here's to the next generation of music lovers!  I
can't even imagine the technology that will be
bringing THEM together!
