A great service that is primarily on the east coast but is moving toward the midwest and san fran.

You can rent a car and pay by the hour- usually about 9 bucks. You don't have to commit for 24 hours like with a typical rent-a-car. You can rent for an hour or up to three days.
And that fee includes all insurance and gas, so no more of the usual rental car rip off of 'should I get collision only, or all the insurance?' crappola. 

The site has a map of cities they service- if you're near one and need a car, I can't recommend if enough. I've used Zipcar for a couple of years in Boston.
