The most recent additions to the eMusic list of labels is Angel Air -- which apparently specializing in bringing older albums back into print. They have a lot of interesting artists like The Attack, Chas Jankel, Dave Davies, the Korgis, the Records and lots more that I'm sure I'm missing. But what it has that I'm totally loving is "The Look." Maybe people talked about this when it came out in 2005, but I don't remember much discussion. Apparently they were a smaller band from the early 80s with one single that did okay and then nothing much else. According to AllMusic, this is all unreleased material except for the single that's included as the final track. This is great pop music -- reminds me in many ways of the Toms. Good guitar sound, solid keyboards, catchy choruses, lyrics about girls, short punchy songs running times, references to their influences - but not slavishly so, it's got it all. Too bad it's from last year -- it would definitely be going on my list for best album of this year. (Oh, and Vinyl Japan has a bunch of stuff up too, like the last two Jazz Butcher releases).
