No mention on the list of the Keene Brothers release....Tommy Keene & Robert Pollard. I figured with the Keene lovers and the Pollard haters here, it would generate some discussion. I happen to be a fan of both, and I find it a nice marriage as Tommy's music tends to keep some of Pollard's prog-rock excesses and mindless noodling in check. It's a nice jangly pop-rock record. You can check out a couple songs here... http://obscuresound.com/?p=92 I watched a DVD last night of Pollard's solo tour at the Metro in Chicago, Tommy really seems to be enjoying himself as Pollard's touring guitarist. During the show, Pollard raves about Cheap Trick, so that leads me to..... The new Cheap Trick drops tomorrow. Living in Rockford and having a few contacts, I've been listening to this for a couple months now. Some very Beatlesque moments, and the keeper to throwaway ratio is pretty high. The Linda Perry collaboration even works. It probably has no chance of commercial success, but it proves that CT remains much more than a casino/county fair circuit oldies act. Some of the tunes date back several years, and for some reason they've chosen to attach old song titles to new songs, but it's a really solid effort. Looking forward to the new Loud Family, tho I couldn't get their myspace page to load. greg _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
