> (This was after we couldn't get through the > new Neil Young and Paul Simon discs, > although I can say subsequently that the > Simon starts slow but picks up.) I had no trouble at all with Simon's SURPRISE, start, middle or finish. Maybe it was the circumstances under which I first heard it: driving down a nearly-deserted highway on a moonless midnight. Seemed to fit the resigned, melancholic reverie mood of the songs. Granted, the man is past his creative peak, but bringing in Brian Eno was a great idea. Early interviews of both men played down Eno's contributions, but I hear him all over this thing.
