NEW TAMAS WELLS Nobody does dreamy, delicate, hushed folk music better than Melbourne's Tamas Wells. His sound has been described as "Nick Drake's folk meeting up with Icelands stately Sigur Ros" After critics described the 2004 debut album 'A Mark on the Pane' as 'one of the year's most beautiful records" Tamas Wells moved overseas for six months to write new material. On returning it was decided that producer Nathan Collins and mixer Marcus Barczak should be enlisted to translate these taped sketches into album format. Eleven tracks were then recorded live over several days in various living rooms in Melbourne with borrowed microphones and the subtle accompaniment of piano, tambourine, mandolin and organ. The result of these sessions is the new album 'A Plea en Vendredi'. The new Tamas album is available from www.popboomerang.com, CD Baby, Notlame Records, Jam Records & Koolkat. Here are some early press reaction to the new album: "A Plea en Vendredi is another fine indication that Tamas Wells are one of the best kept secrets in Australia - a group capable of capturing magic and presenting it in CD form." The Electronic Newspaper Australia "The songs on A Plea en Vendredi are sombre and wistful, beautiful and frail - the perfect accompaniment to a quiet Sunday drive in the country. Also good music to fall in love to or nurse a broken heart." Left Hip Magazine "To call Wells a folk artist may be selling him a little short, but at any rate there are few in the local market that can match his beauty in delivering sparse and hushed music." Expess Magazine Perth Australia "With a little mystery behind his tales of the ordinary, Wells spins a seductive web. These songs beg to be scratched at the surface, because real gold lies just underneath" Herald Sun Magazine Melbourne Australia "Deep-drawn dream drenched melodies are presented with subtlety and grace..Quiet confidence infuses this whole exotic brew." Daily Telegraph Sydney Australia "Wells writes deep, beautiful, longing tunes that truly touch the heart and soul... This man's vocals are totally out of this world..you can expect this album to be one of those that touches a great number of people on a very deep and meaningful level" Babysue Magazine
