Back in the day (1976) I subscribed to Melody Maker and was aware of the splash the Pistols were making in the UK but didn't really have a clue what they sounded like. I suspected I wouldn't like them much. Then I came across their single of Holiday In The Sun and I must confess it blew my mind. I saw them on their US tour in Baton Rouge and they were incredible - really! I got my shoulder length Paul Kossoff hair cut very short the next week. Whether or not they were charlatans of the first degree or whatever I maintain they are among a very small handfull of the best rock acts I've ever seen. I first saw the Who in 1968, Led Zeppelin in 1971 etc... and they were better. I don't think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame amounts to much but certainly the Pistols should be there.
