Dave Vallee: "The funny thing about upstate NY, I live near Albany, is that it's very closed-minded when it comes to music. It's almost embarrassing when great artists come to town and have to play to a half filled auditorium. Most bands that sell out in other cities have a hard time here because no one comes out for live music. Not like the late 70's early 80's when even the local artists sold out their shows. Anyone out there remember Blotto?" Sure do. Saw 'em at least ten times back in the day, at places like J. B. Scott's, the Chateau, Bogarts, and of course, 288 Lark.(Are any of those places still open?) But in terms of "new wave era" Albany music, Blotto was the Beatles. Let's get a little more obscure: Anybody remember the Morons? Goofy punks (but with long hair), not all that good, but man did they have fun up there. Their front man did the first stage dive I ever saw, and to this day I don't know if it was an accident or not. RIP, Cheese Blotto. Drew -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
