I certainly don't begrudge Rundgren the opportunity to make a living. And I like the lineup, and I'll undoubtedly see this band when they go on tour. Moreover, I understand the reason why they're touring as the New Cars, and I can sympathize with it to a degree. But, still, I just wish that they wouldn't use that name. It doesn't seem right to me, because the Cars were Ric Ocasek's band. He was their undisputed leader and, aside from four cowrites with Greg Hawkes, the sole writer of every song that appeared on a proper Cars album. I expect to see some caustic critical broadsides flung Elliott Easton's way, given his previous participation in the similar reunited-band-without-their-leader act Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
