To me, saying there's no point is like saying there's no place for humor in music, and I know JWH is not opposed to humor in music (e.g. "Goth Girl").>>>> An artist may say a cover is done "tongue in cheek", but I believe in most cases that's just a cover up -- deep down, they actually like the song, at least on some level, but for some reason they don't want to admit it ("guilty pleasure", "hipness cred", whatever). I doubt that many artists who've gone to the time and trouble to record a cover would do so if they don't like the song in the first place.
