Hi All--Difficult to find fault with last Saturday evening's IPO lineup at 
the Good Hurt. Marc DeCerbo had the opportunity to play a few songs off his 
latest Four Eyes project, "Sweet on the Vine," released this week where all 
great powerpop recordings are sold. Marc played in front of a enthusiastic 
San Diego (his hometown) contingency..

KC's Jon Yeager followed with a strong acoustic set. There were several 
heart-wrenching compositions which reminded me of the Chris Bell "I Am the 
Cosmos" period.

Frank Lee Sprague certainly knows his Merseybeat, and while his songs are 
not quite up to the level of the more notable bands in the genre 
(Spongetones, F. Groovies, etc.), his set last week was still fun. Kudos to 
members of the very mod The Clamour who joined in for support.

Walter Clevenger and the Dairy Kings actually got the loungers on to the 
dance floor with their show.. Was it just me, or were they somewhat loud?  I 
had my plugs in (attended a Who concert back in 1971; ears still ringing) 
and I was wondering if the band had their levels up--or was it the club 
sound system?  But still a great band.

Finally had the opportunity to see Eugene Edwards live. The verdict: those 8 
million Audities posts on this guy are true. Quite a stage presence!

I'll chime in on Cathy Gale's earlier report: the Samurai Seven were the 
major find at this year's fest. I'll be curious to read the reports out of 
San Francisco. Quality songwriting with that cheeky British wit. They 
traveled very far from their Oxford home base: I guess we should call them 
road scholars. OK, moving right along....

Waiting 4 Wyatt. Waiting for Godot. Waiting for a Friend. Waiting for this 
band to finish.... the only slow portion of a great night.

The Tearaways were placed in the dubious spot of the midnight shift.  The 
IPO vets still have it, and brought the evening's festivities to a terrific 
conclusion.
