I know that I'm a little slow on the bandwagon here and perhaps a bit sheepish (and fearing the worst, as in "why did she post these links - these bands are crap!"). Here it goes : What Made Milwaukee Famous : http://www.myspace.com/whatmademilwaukeefamous part power pop, part indie rock ; I love spreading the word about this band. There has been recent label interest in them ; you decide if they're worthy of the attention. Friends of Lizzy : http://www.myspace.com/friendsoflizzy they're definitely more power pop ; Weezer and Ben Folds are 2 of their influences ; I adore these guys ; they're so much fun as a live band. Johnny Goudie : http://www.myspace.com/johnnygoudie I first saw him as the frontman for Goudie but I didn't really become a fan until he went solo. He likes to change the songs on his site fairly often. At the moment, he has posted some demos and covers (such as Grant Lee Buffalo's "Truly"). His voice can range from tender and mellow to raw and screaming. And one of the sweetest people I know in the local music scene. The Drawing Board : http://www.myspace.com/thedrawingboard the band used to be based in LA and known as The Other Half. They moved back to Austin and changed their name. I first found out about them through the Cotton Mather email list. They've recently finished an EP and manage to play an occasional local gig. The Alice Rose : http://www.myspace.com/thealicerosemusic Their songs can be a bit hit or miss but when they hit, they hit good ! They had done some recording with Ron Flynt but I guess that they weren't happy with the results and have started to re-record. They're inactive at the moment and one of their members currently plays bass in Sparkwood. Hope you find something to enjoy.... Jennifer http://www.myspace.com/poptartjen
