What, no mention of PFR or King's X? :)

A band that falls pleasantly between the 2 above units is The Mustard Seeds. 
Led by Matt Bissonette (touring basist for Rick Springfield, Joe Satriani 
collaborator & power drummer Greg's brother) & guitarist George Bernhardt
(also tours with Springfield), they could also be compared to the Foo Fighters. 
The Christian word craft is subtle & burried, mostly. 

They released 2 albums:
- The Mustards Seeds (S/T) in 1996 
- Red in 2000

Good luck finding them new, but Gemm.com shows a number of 
used copies for sale. And supposedly there's a 3rd record in the works.

They also have a 'secular' outfit called The Squirts that's even more melodic.
