I would assume a rights issue was the main reason they didn't use the Apple version. Varese chose "Good Girls Don't" over "My Sharona", presumably because they used the single version of "Good Girl's Don't," which I don't think has previously been on CD. Of course, the single version substitutes "when she puts you in your place" for "till she's sittin' on your face" (I love that they left in the tag "it hurts!" on the single version-albeit buried in the mix a bit-which I suppose retains a semblance of sense in that it often hurts when you're put in your place). I wonder if they'd have used "In The Street" rather than "September Gurls", if it hadn't been the them of That '70s Show? No matter what (pun intended) the motivation, it actually is the best Big Star choice for a power pop comp. -- Power Pop Rules!!!!! Take Care, David
