Summer’s hear, and the time is right...for the June 2005 Fufkin.com page, which is now up. Beat the summer heat by reading the following record reviews: Mike Bennett presents full length reviews of new releases from The Orange Peels, Robbie Fulks, David Fridlund, The Go-Betweens and Oneida, along with capsule reviews of the new tribute to power pop artist/Jam Recordings label head Jeremy Morris, the latest from The Youth Group, The 101, Dynamite Fraulein, Feist, The Go! Team, Dum Dog Run, Parker & Lily, The Out Crowd, Annie and a singles compilation from The Patsys. Need refreshment? Then check out the cool breeze reviews from Gary Glauber, he takes on the the latest from Aimee Mann, Jeff Larson, The Decemberists and Jim Basnight. Summer reading? Michael Lynch has a review of the tome The Beatles Are Coming! The Birth of Beatlemania in America. Finally, Katherine Kim has a review of the much talked about M.I.A. disc -- decide whether this Sri Lankan/British hip-hop artist is right for your next barbeque. Summer doesn’t mean school, but that didn’t stop Mike Bennett from writing about the new documentary Rock School. Nothing is better during the summer then getting together with old friends. So get together with Alan Haber, Kevin Mathews and Eric Sorensen. Mr. Haber takes us back to ‘beautiful music’ -- every city used to have a beautiful music station pouring out sweet sounds that only a mom or grandmother could love. Mr. Mathews has put his Blurb-o-rama to rest. Does that mean that So Much Music...So Little Time will not talk about great music, new and old, that Kevin’s been digging? Not at all. Kevin discusses Robyn Hitchcock, Griddle, The Psychedelic Furs, Jon Brion, The Concretes, The Capitol Years and branches out into film, with some words about the new Star Wars movie. Meanwhile, Mr. Sorensen keeps strumming away with another installment of Further Observations from a Jangly Music Fan. Eric saw Roger McGuinn (again!) and also listened to a slew of CDs: Bill Kaffenberger, The Afternoons, Jeremy, The Come Arounds, The Orange Peels, Dwight Twilley, Ray Mason and a lot more. So stay in the shade (unless you’re in the Southern Hemisphere and it’s a chilly winter -- then you should stay warm), and please come and visit us.
