While I was growing up, my Dad played in a local cover band (the nut doesn't fall far from the tree as I am following in his footsteps)... anyway - he always bought 7" singles to learn songs, we didn't have a lot of LPs. But when I was about 6, my folks bought me a little record player and "Cosmo's Factory" by CCR. I played that album zillions of times, and it still one of my all-time favorites. Philadelphia AM radio was my thing when I was real little. WIBG and WFIL played all the hits, and I loved them. Curiously, my folks only owned one Beatles album - Abbey Road. I made up for that in short order. -------------- Original message -------------- > I seem to recall my first memory of any kind where music was concerned was > "What's New Pussycat" by Tom Jones....that would have made me 2 years old > (!!) > > But, it wasn't until I was 8 or 9 years old that I actually started paying > attention to songs on CHUM-AM. > > My first 7" single purchase was "Ben" by Michael Jackson....my second was > "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John and "This Is Your Song" by Don > Goodwin at the same time.
