It's always interesting to hear differing opinions on any given topic. For me, I don't really have a problem with using popular songs in commercials. In my opinion, this gives added visibility to songs that many people watching their TVs and listening to their radios might not otherwise hear. Also, on many occasions, this has reawakened my interest in songs I haven't heard for awhile. "Picture Book" would be one example. That made me pull out the album and take it for a spin. And that HP commercial is very clever and fun to watch. I don't have a problem separating the song from the commercial. I mean, that Old Navy spot taking off on "Our Lips Are Sealed" is corny, but I won't have a problem listening to the real song. The only time this kind of thing bothers me is when a particular song just doesn't work in the commercial. Of course, I can't think of single example off the top of my head, but that's the pre-AARP brain talking. Alan "Turning 50 since 2005!"
