Please do what ever you feel is appropriate. I'd love to end up with a copy the brothers made. It may even be from the master, who knows. That would be the penultimate situation. Now as far as a RIAA pre, I know the input says "phono" on the reciever...so as far as I know I'm ok. I'm using an Ortofon OMB 10 cartridge and it's only got about 30 hours on it. Is it possible that they cut the vinyl hotter to be more "rock"? I have 2 other copies and both have this sibilance. I was hoping a new copy would take care of it. Either way it's very cool of you to offer to help. Let me know what you come up with through your connections. I'm also intrigued to find out what the brothers think of this particular album. I consider it to be their Sgt. Pepper's. anyhooo-thanks again for your response. I look forward to hearing back from you. -----Original Message----- From: Wizface@aol.com Sent: Apr 5, 2005 2:31 AM To: audities@smoe.org Subject: Osmonds crazy horses cd project I might be interested in helping you out. 1rst, I can contact Donnie to see if he's done it, or any of the other brothers. 2nd, I will be interning also with Marie's radio show in may, so I might ask then what's available from "the fam". They have a few CD's that are available at their shows. I did lasers for them last time they were in town and remember them selling stuff that I thought was out of print. Donnie gave me a stack of CD's as a thank you. I still haven't plowed thru them to see what's on them.... 3rd, I'm teaching an Audio Restoration Class this summer, where we take on vinyl resotoration projects. Might be fun to transfer a mint copy. If you copy sounds excessively sibilant my first response is are you running it thru an RIAA phono pre-amp? Line In's won't cut it. Has to be a phono............ -mike wiz Hey. Alan Haber...is it you who loved Crazy Horses, or is it Bill Holmes. Hi can't remember...however: I have just gotten a SEALED copy of the lp and really want to burn it to disc. I have once already, but without touching it, ie:record cleaning solution, soap and water, electro-static gun, what-have-you. What I have on disc now sounds amazing, except alot of the sibilance is unbearable. Like it's too hot to vinyl, or something. I'm hoping one of the audities fans of the album might be up for a challenge to get this as clean as possible to cd. I'd be willing to pay to have this as close to cd quality as possible. Thanks, all. later, joe later, joe www.jtgimplosion.com www.kingfriday.com www.myspace.com/thejtgimplosion
