Bob said.. Do any of you know what cool things there are for kids of that age in Chicago? I am guessing the museums are kid friendly, there will be play areas in public parks and I know there's Lincoln Park Zoo. I suppose I am looking for any other activities, child friendly restaurants, child friendly bars(if there are any!) etc. Hey, Bob. I'm not a Chicago guy but love the city. The museums are great. You'll need to go to the The Museum of Science and Industry...GREAT for kids and adults. Try to got to the "Art Institute" per it is a terrific museum and I believe they have some kid friendly things. The main reason you question caught my eye is to pass on the following to you (FWIW). My daughter and wife just went to Chicago for a "girls week-end away" three weeks ago. My daughter just turned 10, so she is older then your children and this may or may not be helpful to you. However, in case this interests you, they went to the American Girl's shop/theatre...I honestly don't know what it's called (but I can find out if you desire). Anyway, the dolls are kind of pricey (actually, my daughter passed on the doll) but it's not the only reason they might be interested (plus, to me there is something kind of creepy about getting a doll that "looks just like you" LOL). They have a rather up scale restaurant that caters to making it kid friendly, smaller dishes, cups and the waiters treat them like little adults and the food is very good (according to my wife). There is also room at the table for the girl's dolls to be wined and dined too. Plus, it is really good food and over looks the historic water tower (I believe). Yeah, you may want to check out a local pub if they do this! Also, there is an American Girl's Theatre that is currently is doing a play on girls in history (I can't recall if it's just "American" girls in history, most likely). However, my wife expecting it to be overly corny, was surprised by how well done it was with the focus as much a play on all sorts of things related to growing up a girl, as it was on these girls in history. Plus, if they do this, another chance to check out a pub for you. ;) My daughter was also very taken with the street performers. I hope you are able to bring the whole family and have a great time! Best, Steve D. NP: Dexys Midnight Runnders "Too-Rye-Ay" (My copy just arrived in the mail and sound very cool. My thanks to the list yet again)
