I saw 'em 4 times, I think. Definitely saw the tour with Squeeze opening....then billed as "UK Squeeze". (still have that red disc). I remember thinking "Dunno who they are, but they're good and they used to listen to a lot of Beatles"... The Tubes shows got progressively wilder, with more costumes, etc as time went along. *Quay* chugging beers and throwing up onstage was always a classic... The last time I saw 'em the guy I went with handed us all a bag of shrooms...Pat Travers opened...and needless to say...by the time the Tubes hit the stage it was pretty much cartoonland... TOO MUCH fun! Saw 'em again in about '98-99 in a small bar in Denver. no costumes, but still tight...and having a damn good time. IMO, if you came in late to the game and only associate "She's A Beauty", etc (top 40 Tubes) with 'em...you missed the madness/the best part of their stint. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Eichelberger" To: "Audities" Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 11:46 AM Subject: Re: Tubes Question Oops... what I meant to ask was if anyone knows if any of their shows were videotaped or filmed? ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Eichelberger To: Audities Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 11:09 AM Subject: Tubes Question Hey all: I was going through the vinyl archives the other day and pulled out some old Tubes albums. I was looking at the concert photos from the inside of the gatefold sleeve for their "What Do You Want From Live" double album and thought it would have been pretty incredible to see them when they were putting on such an elaborate stage show. (Quay Lewd, the dancers, the costumes, the props, the semi-nudity...!) Unfortunately, I never did see them perform, but I was wondering if anyone knows if any of their shows from this era were taped and/or officially released? And if you did see them live during this era, was the show as wild as the pictures suggest? Thanks, Mark E.
