Knowing full well that this likely won't get posted for several days (it must be me)... My wife and I spent Saturday evening in East Windsor, NJ where we saw The Chris Stamey Experience at a house concert (sadly, I couldn't arrange to put one on with him myself). Chris appeared with a bassist and piano player, but no drummer (bummer, I couldn't get my Golden Paliminos album signed...). Though I enjoyed the show immensely, and Chris' songs are quite suited to the mellow relaxed vibe of the typical house concert, the experience reinforced my impression of the typical house concert.- quiet. pondering, precious and well behaved. The audience was very attentive and loved every minute of the 2 set show, and the only missed opportunities in the entire evening was Chris' inability to remember how to play "Cara Lee" as he'd not done so in about 10 years, and the missing piano player for the last few songs after the hammers of the freshly tuned piano locked in the up position on the lower half of the soundboard, and a quick Internet search couldn't find a way to rememdy the issue. Though I'd have preferred a louder, more rocking show, it was great. How great? My wife sang (mouthed) along on about half a dozen songs - I didn't know that she knew more than one or two. Any opportunity that you have to see Chris, take it. Ira
