Ohmygawd...the Queen Haters! I remember when they appeared on Mel's Rockpile as part of Mel's doomed attempt to appear hip and bring Punk Rock to masses. I remember John Candy played the drummer; he was bald and was wearing clothes lifted from Captain Sensible's wardrobe. But the funniest part of his character was that he appeared stone face through the entire performance. Not a facial muscle moved! This skit was seared into my memory and I remember that the lyrics scrolled across the bottom of the screen (as you couldn't really understand Martin Short's take on a punky British accent). I don't remember all of the lyrics, but some to them were: I'd like to drown the Queen off the coast of Argentine. Throw her off a battleship of her Falkland war machine She taxes me to death I can't afford me dope I'd like to get her high....yeah, that would make me laugh.... Hilarious stuff! -------------- Original message -------------- > I have been reminsicing back and forth with Scott Shaw about highlights from the > SCTV series. > Here are the ones I remember: > Teachers Pet (great parody/tribute to To Sir With Love featuring Eugene Levy's > Ricardo Montalban in place of Sidney Poitier and the Boomtown Rats (in place of > Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders) doing Elephant's Graveyard.
