Cheers, Auditeers! I came across this disc in a trading group and knowing there are many many Beach Boys fans here I thought I'd offer five free copies to the list. Send me your mailing address and I'll pull five names at random on Thursday (that will give digest readers a chance). Please reply using the above subject line so I don't miss anyone. PIF standing for Pay It Forward. I want nothing in return. I'm hoping a couple of you will return the favor to the list, or maybe dig out one of those great club date power pop boots out of your closet and share that in a similar manner. b ----- Here's the info for The Flame disk. 1. See The Light (Reprise) The Flames were formed in Durban, South Africa in 1963. For the most part, they consisted of three brothers, Steve Fataar, Edries "Brother" Fataar, and Ricky Fataar. The band also featured a number of other members that would come and go. In 1967, they were joined by Blondie Chaplin. They were "discovered" by the Beach Boys in the United Kingdom in 1969. They made an album for the Beach Boys Brother label in 1970 entitled The Flame. Later Blondie and Ricky became full-time members of the Beach Boys for a time, contributing both writing, singing and playing on the albums So Tough, Holland and In Concert. After their departure from the Beach Boys, Ricky worked on both Carl and Dennis Wilson's first solo albums. Edries Fataar died in 1979. Ricky Fataar went on to star the movie The Rutles - All You Need Is Cash, a parody of the Beatles. He played Stig O'Hara, the George Harrison character. Both Ricky and Blondie have played as touring band members for numerous artists. Ricky Fataar played with the Joe Walsh band for a while and is currently playing with the Bonnie Raitt band. Blondie Chaplin performed on the Rolling Stones album, Bridges to Babylon.
