From: duVicar Date: Tue Feb 8, 2005 6:31 am Subject: Tough Times the Sad news keeps coming Robert ( Bob ) Harrington, Born in Liverpool England March 7th 1943 The Original Lead Vocalist of The ESQUIRES died of a Heart Attack Monday Feb 7th in Victoria B.C. Hospital. Herrington joined the ESQUIRES in 1962 and was the lead vocalist fronting the band when they were the first Canadian band to be signed to a major record label CAPITOL RECORDS of Canada in early 1963. Harrington also played guitar and banjo. He recorded two single sides with the band until his departure in 1964. After the ESQUIRES he recorded two solo sides ( backed by Don Norman & The Other Four ) at RCA studios in Montreal. The single was released Released Sept 1966. on the REO Label however the A side a cover of the Phil Ochs song " Changes " was released weeks later by Crispin St Peters. The B-Side " Country Boy " was a cover of a song recorded by Hinze the Bass Player of the Popular UK Instrumental band The TORNADO'S. Richard Patterson, drummer for The ESQUIRES.
