Here's mine. It ended up being a top 21, thanks to the late discovery of the Arcade Fire album, which proved too good to leave out. 1. The Killers - Hot Fuss 2. The Dears - No cities left 3. Arcade Fire - Funeral 4. Mando Diao - Hurricane Bar 5. Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand 6. Dogs die in hot cars - Please describe yourself 7. The Secret Machines - Now here is nowhere 8. Air - Talkie Walkie 9. Bill Janovitz and Crown Victoria - Fireworks on TV 10.Graham Coxon - Happiness in magazines 11.Nick Cave - Abattoir blues/lyre of orpheus 12.Goldie Lookin Chain - Greatest Hits 13.Mclusky - The difference between me and you is that I'm not on fire 14.Hope of the states - The lost riots 15.The Streets - A grand don't come for free 16.Golden Virgins - Songs of praise 17.The Walkmen - Bows and arrows 18.Belle and Sebastian - Dear catastrophe waitress 19.Green Day - American idiot 20.Magnus - The body gave you everything 21.Charlotte Hatherley - Grey will fade Honorable mentions for re-release/compilations: Super Furry Animals - Songbook, which brings together many of the best SFA tracks since their first album. I've always had a soft spot for the furries, but this compilation served as a timely reminder of their frequent brilliance and ear for an irresistable hook. Manic Street Preachers - Holy Bible (10th Anniversary edition). This was a remastered re-release of the original, powerful and occasionally harrowing masterpiece from the Welsh (then) quartet. Fantastically, the re-release also includes an unreleased U.S. mix of the album which, while softening some of the harsh, bleak pain of the original, serves to freshen it up and bring some of the previously unheard nuances forward in the mix. I haven't included a few albums that other people have put in their lists (the Cardigans, the Wildhearts, Matthew Sweet's Kimi) because I entered them last year. This is thanks to what I assume are differing worldwide release dates. Cheers, Matt.
