The latest statistics I could find via a Google search were from 1999 -- 1,006 gun deaths in Canada -- 802 were suicides and 151 were homicides with the others falling in different categories. Thus, in keeping with the polite nature of most Canadians, when they do use a gun to kill, it's usually to turn it on themselves. While I do think that Jaimie's comments were not really appropriate for this list, but his commentary on American gun laws would be legit in the right forum.
