<<I have to second Brent's post about Chris Stamey's new record,
_Travels in the South_. For over(?) a decade he has been involved in 
producing some fine pop music (especially The Mayflies USA). I think most commentators 
focus on his work with the DBs. I think that overlooks what he has done as a 
solo artist. I believe that this new record is great. I especially like "14 
Shades of Green," "Kierkegaard" and "Ride." There is a similar feel to _It's 
Alright_ without being derivative. I would love to hear what others think.>>

I haven't listened to TRAVELS much yet (it's in the "listen to" pile), but 
I'll give a shout out to Stamey's 1991 masterpiece FIREWORKS.  I think I may 
have touted this record here in the past, but what the hell, I'll do it again: 
it's got fantastic guitar playing, nice production, GREAT songs (faves are "The 
Newlyweds," ""The Company of Light" and "Two Places at Once") and lyrics to 
listen for.  Definitely one of my top 20 favorite albums of all time and, 
criminally, available at a bargain bin near you.
