By putting Don Cherry and Wayne Gretzky on a list of people who saved lives 
and created social/political/scientific change belittles the contributions 
of the other nominees. Sports figures, musicians, and anyone in the 
entertainment field have no place on this list. However, I will concede to 
the importance of writers like Farley Mowat, Pierre Burton, and Margaret 
Atwood who rose above their art to give Canada an international face.

And where the hell is Marshall McLoughan on the list? The man who gave us 
"the medium IS the message" and altered the focus of media as observational 
into one of participational.
